| Amsterdam, 16 mei 2008. Opening of an exhibiton from the visual artist Rah Crawford. He returned to Amsterdam with a street-savvy art exhibition that imports urban culture from The States directly into Holland. Crawford’s new work boasts serious hipster appeal with its sprayed surfaces, crypted text and dynamic blasts of color and energy. HIPOP exposes the hip-ness in American Popular culture – and its undeniable effect on the world. The complete rawness and honesty of the paintings are quite striking. Within the distressed canvas and image there lies an exposed concept and a clear connection to Crawford’s life long sources of inspiration. An impression. |
